MIA (aka...Missing In Action)

Hi all! I guess you've been wondering where I've been. This has been a very busy week for me. They tell us it's grade card time again so we've been testing our hearts out. Mommy says that soon March will be over and we can look forward to April...we have 4 day weeks all month long. EURIKA!!!!! In 9 more weeks I'll officially be a 2nd grader...can you believe that.

Today was our spelling test, plus a timed math test (can you add/subtract 80 problems in 5 minutes) and to top it off we had a quiz on some social studies stuff we've been learning. What's a guy to do!

Okay, since I've been testing all week I have a quiz for you ....let's see how well you do...you can leave your answer in the comments section.

What tree - native to America - uses all the vowels in it's name? Hope you have the answer...it's a good one.

Till next time, have a good rest of the week and stay dry.

My New Look - Update!

Hey, how do you like my blogs new look? My secretary and I are playing around and we created a new header for it. Don't be surprised if it changes a few more times until we get it exactly like we want it. Good thing she took all those PhotoShop classes cause they might really come in handy.

Nothing exciting happened in my life today so I don't have much to say. Can you believe I'm speechless....that must be a first in my life.

Back tomorrow!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Yesterday it was back to school again. On the first day back I started out on blue...picked some goodies from the treasure box for having the most punches...I was on top of the world....all that quickly changed....I started talking with my friends and I was on yellow. I had lots to tell them about my trip to the LEGO store...but my teacher didn't think so.

Today I was happy to see a story I wrote during the break made it to 2nd place. We had all kinds of classwork to get done. We had math, reading, writing and some science too. You have to keep learning even if it's a holiday. If you didn't do it...it was detention for you...I did mine.

Oh, remember the "diamond" door knobs I mentioned ...well here's a picture. It's not a very good picture but you get the idea. Actually, they're the glass knobs on the doors. How was I to know they weren't diamonds....they looked like diamonds to me. Everyone had a good laugh.....how's a kid like me to know that. After all, I'm only 6.

Enough for now....till tomorrow.

I Could Be Dancing....YEA!!!!

When my cousin Ashley turned 15 a few weekends ago she had
a really nice party called a Quincenara. (Good thing this wasn't one of my
spelling bee words.)

My Mommy says it's a very special party. I loved it..I danced with Mommy and I even tried to dance with Ileana but she refused to be my partner. Oh well, who needs a partner anyway.

I tried everything. There was the Cha Cha Slide, the Superman, the Twist...you name it I tried it. Those teens on the dance floor had nothing on me. But let me tell you, I was one tired puppy at the end of the night.

You know, I tried to go to the Valentine dance at my school again this year. They told me it was just for the "older" kids...bummer....I'll try again next year...I'll be in 2nd grade and maybe that will be "older" enough. I'll keep you posted on that one.

Here's one of me doing the Robot....you be the judge.

Made It ToThe Lego Store.....EURIKA!!!!

Arrived in Houston on Thursday feeling under the weather...I had a bad cough besides the fact that it was raining cats and dogs out... I think I stepped on a poodle when I got out of the car...get it??? Have you ever seen "diamond door knobs? Well this house has them all over the place. (Actually, they're glass door knobs..but to me they look like diamonds.)They're AWESOME!

Friday was the big day... still not feeling on top of the world....I finally made it to the LEGO store. We traveled what seems a lifetime in the rain. I even took a nap. We pulled into the right side of the biggest mall I had ever seen and went directly to the STORE. I thought I was in heaven...just kidding.

There were tons of things to see in there. Everything I had been looking at in the catalog was right before my eyes. My wallet was trying to keep my money safe...but my hands were quicker and out it all came...$ by $....1, 2, 3 and so on till it was almost gone. I bought everything I wanted and still had money left over. Well actually, since we're in a recession I was doing my part to help the economy.
We came back to the house and I couldn't wait to play...but first things first...I wound up at the doctors office..if you know this Fernandez family...we usually have to include a doctor visit on each vacation. My Aunt Veronica knew just where to send me. The nurse lady said I had a double ear infection among other things...and meds were in order.

It's getting late but I'm feeling a little better right now. The meds are kicking in
already...tomorrow will be a new day and my Daddy and I will play with my new toys.

Having a great vacation...wish you were here!

My "Bee" Experience

Well my big day came after a full moon the night before. I arrived on time and checked myself in anticipating my big experience. My number was #19. The ladies in charge were very nice and helpful.

I sat there and began to mentally prepare. I was scared, but I managed very well. I did a little squirming in my chair...but everyone else did it too. It was like a sea of legs swinging away. Do you think they were nervous too?

My schoolmate dropped out in the 2nd round leaving me carry the load. I managed to make it through 3 rounds and then in the 4th
I had a "terrible" experience...I misspelled the word...T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E....get it! In my mind I knew the correct spelling...but my mouth didn't cooperate and I spelled it wrong!!!!!

If you haven't guessed by now...these bold words were the ones that came my way at the BEE.

I have attached pictures so you can see just how cute my shirt was and how handsome I looked in it. Just kidding!!!!!!!

This was a wonderful experience...now that I know how it works and I will surely try again next year and WIN!!!! Check me out at the Spelling Bee

Three Days To The Hockey Bee!!

Time is nearing for my big spelling debut. The Bee people really didn't give us a list to study....they just said...get a dictionary!!! Go figure...there are lots of words in a dictionary...where do you begin??????

My parents have been calling out random words to spell. We have 2nd and 3rd grade words we found since I already knew the 1st grade ones. I've done pretty good so far. Saturday will tell the REAL story. Please be sure to think of me around 4 p.m.....that's the time of the Bee at Trinity University. I'll be sure to let you know how I do.

My week has gone pretty good so far...I've had my up's and down's but I'm hanging in there. Maybe I'm getting spring fever. I might have to get my Mommy to call Dr. P and ask him about these feelings. I go to bed early every night, but when they call we in the morning...I'm still tired. By the end of the school day I am beat. This is surely a sign of something in the air. Thank goodness Spring Break is right around the corner!!! :-)

Yesterday there was a "Quiet Zone" in and around our school. We had to be extra quite all day long. The 3rd and 4th graders were testing and didn't need any noise. We had to tiptoe everywhere we went. I sure hope they did well cause I did my part.

On Monday evening I went online to my favorite site... "Ticket 2 Learn". I read quite a few stories (which I used as part of my homework reading assignment) and boy did I rack up the points...of course I wanted to spend them as soon as I got them (need to learn some self control. But, I am now the proud owner of a rocket, a teddy bear and a frog in my clubhouse. I wish I could show you how cool this clubhouse is. I'm working on some outdoor stuff for my yard. Then I will finally be able to leave the clubhouse. We all need fresh air once in a while you know.

Enough for today...tomorrow I will tell you about the guitar I got for Christmas from Grandma Dora. I really want to learn to play. I guess I'll have to get a book with instructions so I can learn. That would be AWESOME!!!!

Special note to Mrs. Ortiz:
Hope you're feeling better...take care of your foot. I miss you. Come back soon, my after school life is not the same without YOU!
