The Cat in the Hat Visits Our School

Well, the big day finally arrived...the CAT came back...(he visits yearly).

Here's a picture for ya. I often wonder who's really under that mask...maybe I'll figure it out before I leave this school.

Here's my picture in my "recycled" hat. My friends had cool hats too!

Have to get back in the routine next week. It's time to study, study, study. My big spelling bee appearance is next Saturday. Then I'll have to find something new to "blog" about. Maybe I'll tell you about the guitar I'm trying to learn to play.

I really love this "blog" thing...it's so much fun keeping a daily log and letting you know what's happening in my life. You need to try it sometime.

Silly Glasses Update @ Preparing For Hat Day Celebration

Update...My glasses did stay together. This is the picture of the "wad" of tape my mom put on them. It did do the trick. Thanks Mommy for being such a good taper-upper. You're the best!

Got so excited about tomorrow my secretary hit the button before I had anything to say...silly us! Tomorrow is the day we have to wear our Dr. Seuss hats...like I told you before...mine is "recycled" from last year. It was a hit then...maybe it will be a hit again...like they say..."the older the better". Actually, (my favorite word) I didn't have time to make another, this one was still around, so this will have to do.

Tomorrow will be a fun day at school...lots of things going on. The Cat-In-The-Hat is coming to visit. Last year I was sort of scared of him, I'm older this year so it should be better. I will post some picture if all goes well.

Till tomorrow!
Dylan

PS: Really like all the comments my friends have been leaving. Thanks!

Wear Silly Glasses Day

Well, today was the day to wear your "silly glasses". When Mommy showed me the pair I was to wear...I said "no way, my friends will make fun of me". They were pretty neat when I was Leo (Lil Einstein's) but for silly glasses day????? Mommy assured me that would not happen.....you know Mommies...always the believers.

As I sat in the back of the car I worried all the way to school. Then horror really set in... as I got out of the car...the stick fell off. What to do! Then as usual, Mommy to the rescue!

She left me in the cafeteria and went looking for some tape. First she went to look for my teacher...door locked. Since she knows her way around our school...she headed straight to my favorite teacher's room...Mrs. Ortiz. Well guess what, she was not in either. BUT her substitute, Ms.Laura was and she gave Mommy some tape. Thanks goodness!!!!!!!

You can imagine my joy when Mommy came back and showed me the finished product...now they really looked even sillier. She had added a BIG wad of tape to one side. As I looked around the room and saw some of the others I was a happy camper. I guess they will do after all. (I'll post a picture with the "wad of tape" tomorrow for the whole world to see.

The theme tomorrow will be "Wear Red and White Day" and you also have to wear a Dr. Seuss hat. We've all been hearing our President telling us that we need to be more frugal and live within our means...well I have chosen to "recycle" my hat from last year. I hope it still fits and won't fall apart. Let's hope it all works out well!

Backwards Day

Sorry for not updating last night. I had a busy day at school then I had to get a haircut after school. All of that cut into my homework time and you know homework comes first.

We did have "Backwards Day" and it was great fun. You can see from my picture that I decided to wear my shirt backwards. I felt silly walking around like this....but when I looked around and saw everyone else doing the same it was...cool.

Tomorrow is "Silly Glasses" Day...wait till you see what I have up my sleeve.

Silly Socks Day

Today's story will be short...it's bath night.
Gotta be "squeaky clean" for tomorrow.

I just wanted to jump in and show you what I wore today. It was "Silly Socks Day". We had to wear the silliest socks we could make or find. Checkout mine...think their silly enough?

Tomorrow is "Backwards Day". I've really got to think about this one.

Behavior Update:

  • I was GREEN today...that means I was good and followed directions, etc.
Gotta stay green until Spring Break so I can make a trip to Houston and visit the BIG Lego store.

See ya tomorrow.

Today Was Mixed-up Monday

Wow, did we have fun today! Everyone was really "mixed-up" all day long.

You can tell by my picture that my shirt was really mixed-up. Of course, my Mom only took a picture of my head instead of showing you my shirt...but that's okay...you have to remember it was Monday. Mondays are really bad for me sometimes...
(my clip was moved to the "red" section on the behavior chart today. That's NOT good because it cuts into my allowance for the Lego store.)

My teacher gave us a new reading program to use on our computers. It's called "Ticket 2 Read". Boy, is it fun. You read stories at your level, and answer comprehension questions to see if you're really reading the story. You can earn points to use in decorating your virtual clubhouse. I already earned a remote control car, a helicopter, and a pet bird in a cage.

What I really wanted were too expensive....like they cost 1500 points and I only had 300...get the idea?
I need to save my points so I can get bigger stuff...I will try harder to control my spending next time. I want more points like my cousin Ileana has.

Gotta run for tonight. I have to read my book and study my spelling words for the contest. Like Papa says, " you have to do what you have to do, so that you can do want you want to do".
He always gives me good advice.

If you want to leave a comment in the section below this post you can. Just be sure to sign in as an "anonymous" user and sign your "real" name after your comment. My secretary and I are still trying to fix the "bugs".

Tomorrow will be "Silly Socks Day". Just wait till you see mine!

Blog Premier - I'm On The Internet

Hello World! My name is Dylan and I'm so excited because I finally made it to the World Wide Web!

Actually, I really need this blog because I always have lots to say.

I was so excited when they told me I had my very own "blog"
I just jumped for joy and shouted (at the top of my lungs) AWESOME!!!!!!!! (Then I asked them to put many more exclamation marks after the word.)

You know, I have a real "life changing" event coming in the very near future.
  • I will be representing my school in the 2nd Annual - SA Rampage Hockey Bee. I will be the only 1st grader from my school attending. I have been spending every extra minute of my day learning new words to spell. I hope I do well...wish me luck!
My upcoming week will also be very busy. Besides my usual school work and homework we will begin celebrating a special event.
  • Tomorrow is "Wear Many Colors Day" - we are preparing to celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday! I have a really cool shirt to wear....it really has MANY colors (right Mrs. Ortiz?)
I'll keep you posted on the festivities as my week progresses,
